The Diaries of Adela Capel, May 1841 - April 1842
During the 1840s, Adela Capel was one of three children within the household of Cassiobury, and daughter of Arthur Algernon Capel, the sixth Earl of Essex. She and her brothers had a governess named Miss Smart, who tutored and cared for them.
Below are extracts from one year of Adela's personal diary, a section from each month when she was either 13 or 14.
