Royston Cave
Unqiue in Europe for the extent of its chalk carvings, Royston Cave, underneath the heart of the town, was rediscovered in 1742, but no-one knows when it was originally used and who by – or what the carvings represent. Suggestions have ranged from the cave being used by pagans, by the Knights Templar, or simply as a prison. Whichever is true, you can visit the cave and decide for yourself.
