BEYOND THREADS OF TIME

An Exhibition of Work by 4 Project Members

By Eva Cantin

Trestle Arts Base in St. Albans is the home of Trestle, a mask and physical theatre company. It holds a wide range of drama related and community based events. The welcoming Gallery Cafe is also an exhibition space for local artists and groups.

The Gallery Programmer, Elaine Johnson, has been known to organise the guerilla art attacks known as Yarn Bombing in the past so she clearly has an interest in textiles and community involvement. She responded enthusiastically when approached about hosting an exhibition including pieces made for the first Threads Of Time.

Opportunities for free, local exhibition space don’t come around every day. So when the offer of a choice of dates came up there was no hestation. As a result Jackie Hodgson, Catherina Petit-van Hoey, Lizzie Harnden and Eva Cantin are showing their pieces from last year’s project alongside some of their other work.

Beyond Threads of Time celebrates the wonderful mix of skills and styles in textile and mixed media art which came together as part of this innovative project. If you want to see a bit more of what some of us get up to the rest of the time do drop in.

Beyond Threads of Time – 17th January to 5th March, Gallery Café, Trestle Arts, St.Albans
