Finding out more

A booklist and catalogues to research

By Daphne Knott

Documents

The Delme Radcliffe collection is very extensive, and you will only have seen a very few documents on your visit.

You can see the whole catalogue, reference D/ER, in hard copy in the Archive reading room at HALS.

Alternatively, you can look at it online in one of two places:

The National Archives has a list on its A2A catalogue:  http://apps.nationalarchives.gov.uk/a2a/ Go to ‘Advanced search’ and enter Delme Radcliffe in the keywords box and Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies in the Repositories box.

The HALS online catalogue has new material which has only recently been catalogued. This is being updated all the time: http://www.hertsdirect.org/hals Follow the link to Search the Online Catalogue. Go to Advanced Search and add ‘Radcliffe family in the Title field and 1538 in the date field. This will bring up the highest level of the catalogue which you can then search.

You can come to HALS during opening hours and do some more research. Staff will be happy to help you search the catalogues if you are struggling.
