Do you recognise it?

Stately Home - Hertfordshire Archives & Local Studies

According to the inscription on the back of the photo, this is a stately home near Ware, but it’s not Fanhams.  Do you know if that’s correct, and which stately home this is?  We’d love to hear from you.

  • I think it was a convent called Poles at the time – may have closed in the 1970s. It was a teaching order of nuns called the Fellowship of the Child Jesus .

  • This is Shadwell Park in Norfolk as James rightly states. As a Presdales “Old Girl” I know it is not the mansion house. See http://www.dicamillocompanion.com/houses_detail.asp?ID=2848#images This is Shadwell Park and is identical to the unidentified photo above

  • I went to Presdales School in Ware and it most certainly is not the house. This is definitely Shadwell Park in Norfolk as James states, see http://www.dicamillocompanion.com/houses_detail.asp?ID=2848
