Threads of Time is an exciting new project which will use documents from the Wittewronge collection as inspiration for pieces of textile art to be exhibited at HALS in June 2014.

All Hertfordshire textile and mixed media artists are cordially invited to a preliminary meeting of the project on Monday 14 October 10.00 – 12.00 when some of the collection will be available to view and the project will be discussed in more detail.

The Wittewronge collection contains a wonderful variety of stories and characters – a Tudor sea adventurer; a civil war general; a woman accused of witchcraft; an early weatherman – the list goes on. Of course the documents themselves could also be inspirational as many of them are beautiful/interesting as objects in their own right.

We hope that participants will be willing to share their work in progress in several ways: a display of workbooks or work in progress; updates and pictures on Herts Memories; an open studio day at HALS  where participants can show their work to visitors.

There will not be any teaching provided; the project is designed to provide inspiration for participants. However, help with reading the older documents and research guidance will be provided for those who would like it.

For more details or to book your place at the first meeting on October 14, please contact:
