Lady Caroline Lamb (1785-1827)
of Brocket Hall
By Llinos Thomas
The unhappy wife of Lord Melbourne, Queen Victoria’s first Prime Minister, Caroline Lamb had a reputation for being wild and eccentric, and became notorious for her passionate affair with the poet Byron.
Caroline’s sketchbooks reflect her individuality, including this self-portrait, walking her dogs in Cavendish Square, London.
