Opening of St Albans branch line

The first railway opened at St Albans, the branch line from the London and Northwestern Railway from Watford.

It was closed to passengers on 1st October 1951 and although freight traffic continued the station was eventually closed completely on 5th October 1964.

The station is now a business centre in a modern housing estate. Due to its current use the building is in excellent condition with part of the platform remaining.
