Don Wilson's Dance Band

Don Wilson's Dance Band
Campana Seranaders Gypsy Band

Local dance bands in about 1935, possibly connnected to Cheshunt Methodist Church.  My father, Charles Monckton, is on the left in both photos, playing the saxophone.  I believe Don Wilson’s Dance Band played at the Criterion Ballroom in Leicester Square.

  • I don’t think that the Campana Gypsy Band was based in Cheshunt because my grandfather played with them and he was living in either Kensington or Kingsbury.

My grandfather Sidney Calcutt is second on the left in.the back row playing accordian.
