On the Hundred Acre Estate in Hoddesdon in 1981 the residents of Beechfield held a street party to celebrate the marriage of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer.

On a communal grassed area near our houses there were children’s sports competitions with small prizes for the winners.

After the sports the refreshments were served on long tables down the middle of the road by the garages. It was a lovely way to meet our neighbours. At the end of the afternoon the children were presented with commemorative mugs with pictures of Diana and Charles.

In the evening a disco was held in the same area for the adults. It had been a lovely day and we had met lots of new people.
