Oxhey Choir

is my biggest memory

By Trudy Pollard

We moved here in August 1997, my children went to Oxhey Wood and Bushey Hall School. The countryside is lovely here. We go to Merry Hill Farm with a pack lunch and watch the horses. My daughter is growing up where she can look at ducks, it’s great and we can go to Oxhey Woods.

We’ve been married for 23 years and renewed our vows in All Saints Church, Gosforth Lane 2 years ago.

My biggest memory is of the Oxhey choir going to the Colloseum, St Albans Abbey and performing in the precinct is fantastic, long may it continue. Going to Abbey Road with the choir, Gareth was like a cat with a new toy, walking into the studio where the Beatles had been. We have been together 14 months as a choir. My friend Christine phoned me and asked me if i’d heard of the TV programme the choir. Well she had signed me up, but it was the biggest favour she ever did for me. It’s been so good for my confidence.

We feel part of the community here. We came from South East London and nothing seemed to happen there. All in all I’ve loved it here.
