This volume begins with a comprehensive survey of Waltham Cross. The Memorandum at the front of the volume states that:
‘I begun my survey of this street at the North end & soe following from house to house of the West side of the said street unto the end thereof and then began againe on the other side att the North end and soe following from house to house att the East side of the street unto the end of that side of the said street’.
Each house with its garden or other buildings is described, and often previous tenants are named. George Waylett is listed as the tenant of the White Hind Inn.
