The Red Lion Pub

Woolmer Green
By Emma Pearce

The Red Lion Pub stands on the main road through Woolmer Green Village. This road was, for a long time, the main route to London and would see a lot of traffic going to and from the capital.
As a result there are a number of pubs and old coaching inns positioned along the main road to act as a rest stop and place to change horses for the many travelers who passed through the village.
These photographs show the Red Lion pub in the early Twentieth Century.
