Bishop's Stortford Photo Gallery 2

Photographs of the town and its wildlife, 2009-2010
By Richard Brockbank
Photo:View over rooftops to St. Michael's church, taken from edge of Town Park.
Photo:A tree-lined walk in one of the Cemetery Road cemeteries.
Photo:Huge Cedar tree in cemetery.
Photo:A femail mute swan (pen) incubates her clutch of four eggs. They all hatched successfully; however, it's sad to see the amount of litter some residents and visitors to the town have left and continue to throw on the ground.
Photo:A view of the moon at night from the Town Park. The moon is about as reflective as coal: if you want to find out why it still looks so bright, try the Wikipedia article about the moon, and the section entitled 'Appearance from Earth'.
Photo:A blackbird comes to a momentary standstill in the Town Park.
Photo:There are many interesting flowers and plants in the park.
Photo:You could spend a lifetime studying just the interesting shapes of plants, and it would be a cheap hobby.
Photo:A small spider (harmless, I'm sure!) out hunting for tiny insects in the urban centre.
Photo:A squirrel calculates its next move. If it knew it was so cute, it might not be so scared.
Photo:This may be a thrush just by the Castle mound.
Photo:Follow the towpath a little way out of town and you'll get some well-needed peace and quiet, and see some relaxing and interesting sights.
Photo:Rushy Mead Nature Reserve is usually quiet.
Photo:This is an exceptionally pretty bend in the river, close to Rushy Mead.
Photo:A late July sky with the War Memorial silhouetted in the foreground.
Photo:Zoomed in to the west from Bells Hill, you could almost imagine you were looking out to a beautiful North American horizon.
Photo:The sky didn't disappoint as I hurried to Cricketfield Lane.
Photo:I always enjoy looking at curved brick or stone buildings, to marvel at the skill of those who built them.

Further work taken in the UK and North America can be seen here.
