First World War

a study of local people from Dacorum
By Dacorum Heritage Trust

Five young people aged between 16 and 25 were recruited from 'V Involved' and have worked with curatorial staff to produce three short films about inspirational people from the past. The project began in June with an object-handling session introducing the young people to possible characters for films, such as local war heroes, artists and authors.

The young people involved in the project decided to focus on the First World War for this project as much more is known about the Second World War and none of the participants knew much about how Dacorum was affected by the 1914-1918 war. The film has been broken into three sections: an introduction with public consultation, a study of local people from the area (Christopher Cox and Jack Evans) and finally a focus on how theatre was affected during the conflict.
