John Kaye from Redbourn is seen here c.1937 getting friendly with the stuffed bear that stood outside the barn that joined The Chequers P.H., St. Albans Road, Redbourn.
The barn was used by Bill Bridge to sell secondhand furniture and bric-a-brac, and is now converted into part of the restaurant.
