I wonder if Walt was Walter Edward Reading (1903-1962), and the son of Albert and Jane Reading of East Common, Redbourn? He would be my 5th cousin twice removed, and our common Reading ancestors would have been born in the 17th century. My 3 x great-grandfather William Reading came to Stamford (Lincs) in the 1820s, and married there, dying in 1879 in the workhouse. I was born in Stamford, and have found no end of Readings around the Redbourn area; I am planning a visit some time this year.

Hello John, Many thanks for your interesting email. You are right that Walter Reading was the son of Albert & Jane Reading of East Common. He was born in 1902 (by the school register record). Walter worked in our family dairy business for a number of years up until his death. He was married to Sarah Catlin and lived at North Common, Redbourn. Regards Geoff
