Howard Park Children's Play Area

This is Howard Park Children's Play area off Norton Way South in 1995. The area was redesigned in 2011. Note the fountain that was taken down due to concerns for health and safety. A lot of children had bruises after playing or falling from it! In the summer families would gather to enjoy one of the largest paddling pools in the country.
The little girl is Nichola Birch daughter of Letchworth librarian Viv Birch. She studied at Exeter University and was a former pupil of Highfield School.
