On the beat: conserving the Bishops Stortford Police Archive
Lunchtime talk at the Rhodes Museum 21 March
What can be done to save an archive that has been left in a puddle? That is exactly what happened to the Bishops Stortford Police Archive and Hertfordshire Archives conservator Jeff Cargill and his team now have the task of preserving the archive for future generations.
Jeff will be giving an illustrated talk about how this is being achieved at a lunchtime talk in the Rhodes Museum, Bishops Stortford. Find out just how long it takes to rescue a volume which has been badly damaged by damp - and what strange substances have to be used!
