Presenting British Schools Museum with the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service
By Ann Judge

On Thursday 14th June Hitchin welcomed Her Majesty the Queen to the town.

Her Majesty was continuing her Diamond Jubilee tour of the UK, and would later visit the Lister Hospital in Stevenage, and Hatfield House for a private reception and lunch with Lord Salisbury.

While in the town’s Market Place the Queen presented The Queens Award for Voluntary Service to the volunteer team at the British Schools Museum.

These images show something of the excitement in Hitchin’s Market Place as crowds gathered and welcomed The Queen.
