The author Stella Duffy visited Watford Central Library in February 2009 to launch Hertfordshire's new Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transexual booklist. The event was part of LGBT History Month, which ran throughout February.
Stella, the author of 10 novels, talked about her writing including her latest, The Room of Lost Things, which is featured on the LGBT list. Her book is described as “a hymn of love to a great and overflowing city, and a profoundly human story that holds us in its grip from beginning to end”.
Hertfordshire Library staff compiled the list, which runs to nearly 40 titles in consultation with Hertfordshire County Council's LGBT Staff Network. It features a wide range of titles and themes, grouped under the categories of Lesbian fiction, Gay fiction, Transgender, Anthologies and Non-fiction.
The list also features a list of organisations offering information and support and bookshops that specialise in or have LGBT sections. The booklist can be viewed online on the website of Hertfordshire Libraries or at the bottom of this page.
