Reopens after redevelopment

Hertford Museum reopens to the public on Saturday 27th February 2010 following a major redevelopment project.

The museum has been closed since December 2008 while the work was taking place. Around £1 million has been spent and the many improvements and changes include:

  • new lifts to enable access for all
  • a refurbished temporary exhibition space that will change regularly
  • a new extension called the ‘Andrews Room’ that will be used for activities, talks, school visits and groups
  • three new computers with broadband Internet access for visitors to use for things such as local and family history searches
  • a new shop and reception area
  • a new ground floor ‘Resource Room’ for people to research local history
  • a touch-screen kiosk where visitors can access a collection of photographs of the town and other local areas
  • listening posts featuring people talking about life in Hertford

Admission to the museum is free.
