Eric Riddle’s WW1 Commemorative Rides
In the summer of 2018 Eric Riddle rode round all the World War One Memorials in Hertfordshire and photographed them.
Eric divided the task into ten journeys. These journeys are recorded here with the photogaphs he took of the memorials. The photographs often include WW2 memorials as well. The list of men who voluteered to go to the second Boer War which is on the side fot he old Hertford Library building is also included.
The journeys took a total of 60 hours which time included religiously reading the names on all Memorials, spending a few minutes reflecting, a few minutes recovering, a look around Churches' graveyards, villages, towns etc. as well as the time spent cycling.
The Potters Bar memorial is included separately as Eric photographed and layed a poppy at this memorial on a day he was playing cricket in the town.
