The Cole Green Robbery of 1824

In the early hours of the 10th June 1824 a robbery with violence took place at Cole Green, near Hertford. The articles that follow attempt to tell the story of both the crime and its aftermath. It is traced through partial court cases, police officers bills, the banking system and indeed the words of those involved. In some ways more information would have been welcome as some loose ends are bound to be left hanging. The main structure of what occurred is there though and hopefully will be of some interest.
