Thursday 24th February 1842

Rose at 8. After Breakfast went to my garden, put the flints round the Strawberries. Worked in my garden again in the afternoon, done as much as I can at present, sowed my peas and Radishes, trimmed my Strawberries.

Friday 25th February 1842

Rose at 8. Did not go out after Breakfast, it snowed – quite an unexpected change. In the afternoon took a walk with Miss Smart in the Upper Park. In great danger of falling down from slipperiness of the ground. I then looked at my 2 gardens, admired them and then picked 2 Camillas Japonica. 

Saturday 26th February 1842

Rose at 8. After Breakfast took some vegetables to my Rabbits, spoke to Bailie about my fawns and Birds, then went to the farm. In the afternoon we went to the vicarage. I took a walk with Miss Capell, we went to see Mr King’s Deer again, took them some bread and Apples.

Sunday 27th February 1842

Rose at ½ past 7. After Breakfast went to Church. Coming home it rained and the wind blew not at all agreeable. Could not go out in the afternoon because of the rain, read an amusing book, studies at ½ past 5. The Hen that I sat on the 4th of Feb has hatched all her eggs, 11, which is very early.
