My birthday.  Had a satchel from Daddy, a French-English, English-French dictionary from Jane,  and a purse, nylons and belt from Mummy.  Had the bumps.  Got 41 out of 50 for spelling.  Nana & Grandad came.  They gave me a manicure set.

Tuesday 8 September 1959

Went back to school.  Got Mr Baynes as a teacher again.  A smashing new teacher has joined the staff.  Carol, Arnrid and I were monitors for all the newcomers.  Our classroom is in the main building of Parkfield, upstairs.

Saturday 19 September 1959

Did the Bendix washing.  Had a bad headache.  After dinner Jane went round to Christine Barratt while Mum, Dad and I went shopping.  Met Joan and Mrs Marson.  Went to Barnet to choose some material for a summer skirt we are making at school.

Monday 5 September 1960

Nana and Grandad went home.  I went with Mummy to DeBohun  to help her tidy her school stuff up as she has been moved to the annexe.  Went to the dentist.  Dad went to photo meeting.

Saturday 10 September 1960

Bought a new water gas heater for the bathroom.  Went swimming with Hilary and family. Wore my new costume.  Hilary is a very good swimmer.  We had a lovely time.  Jane and I went to the pictures to see Make Mine Mink.  I went only to see Audie Murphy of course!!

Saturday 9 September 1961

Dad collected car while I sent to the library and Mum did the shopping.  Went to St Albans. I got a straight frock as a birthday present from Dad and Mum, and a bag from Jane.  I went to the pictures with Hilary to see The Rebel.
