31st May 1822

Went over to Southgate, called on Lady Curtis who was in London & found at home with Rebecca Curtis – A grand ball given at the Opera House for the distressed Irish. The Ritz was it’s patron & all the Royal Family attended – a collection of four thousand pounds was made for the sufferers.

8th May 1823

Finished the walks in the flower garden — James Bradford dug a load of gravel.

16th May 1827

The Bees swarmed 1st – were very spiteful, stung the Gardener & Frederick in 20 places. P.L, H.F, L.F went out in the carriage to Hadley & Barnet to call upon Mrs. Crawly & daughter.

21st May 1831

Our good old friend Mrs. Nicholson died at half past three. William Fiott wrote to me, she never recover’d her fall. They did not find out the hip was put out till after her death.
