Jubilee - Day 2
16th Bushey Brownies Pack Holiday 2012
By Beverley Small
An early start!
Brownies woke very early, some at quarter past 5, and full of beans (leaders had no beans).
He’s a fun-gi
After breakfast and washing up we went exploring in the woods and did a scavenger hunt. The highlight of the scavenger hunt was a bright orange fungus, which no-one touched.
Busts of the Queen
Craft for the day began with paper mache busts of the Queen and decorating commemorative plates and photo frames.
Potato peeling
After lunch we peeled potatoes and Brownies took part in the ever popular potato throwing game where each Brownies takes turns to stand by a pan of water and another Brownie tries to soak her feet by splashing her potato into the pan. This is an excellent opportunity to develop potato peeling skills as Brownies are keen to have as many potatoes to throw as possible.
Royal Dolls House
The Brownies began working on rooms for a royal dolls house, each Brownie making a room of her choice. Stage 1 – decorate your room.
A good night
After tea, the entertainment for the evening was a Royal Drive (an alternative to a beetle drive with Brownies trying to make a Queen rather than a beetle). Brownies also painted boats to go on the Flotilla Frieze. After more royal stories including “Rumpelstiltskin” and “The King with the horse’s ears”, Brownies went to sleep slightly earlier than the previous night.
