Learning a new skill

A bookbinding course with Ken Futers

On Monday 31 March, the local studies library at HALS was a hive of activity when some of hte members of the Threads of Time project took part in a bookbinding workshop led by Ken Futers.

A sense of purpose as well as enjoyment can be seen on the faces of all who took part as they carefully followed instructions. All those who took p[art were able to take away a journal which they had made themselves. an amazing achievent in just one day.

  • I agree with Debbie, it was a very satisfying day – Ken led us through a complex process with skill and patience, giving us the confidence to achieve a lovely book to fill. I’m looking forward to putting my new skills into practise again soon, but first I must finish my project piece.

  • Monday’s workshop was a thoroughly enjoyable and satisfying day, with everyone leaving with their own beautiful book. The process was much more intricate and involved than I had anticipated and has left me itching for another go!
