About my Piece

Finders, Keepers, Protectors and Seekers, a textile and light installation taking the form of a ghostly presence.

It is said she can be found in June, dwelling in the shelter of precious things. Her ghostly apparition materialises adorned with locks of hair and keepsakes. A keeper of history, protecting what remains, for those who wish to find it.

The title explores connections between archivists, artists, and our visits to archives and exhibitions seeking knowledge and stimulation.

It alludes to the idea of seeking a safe place, both for the Wittewronge family collection and for the family themselves, fleeing Ghent as Huguenot refugees.
