Reginald John ‘Rex’ Whistler was educated at Haileybury College at Hertford Heath, and killed in action in 1944. A skilled artist and stage designer, he was well known for his humorous drawings. He wrote this letter to his friends at Panshanger, during his commission with the Welsh Guards in Normandy.
