The Soper Collection
The Soper Collection is a recently formed charity, No.1179196. We have the opportunity to restore and renovate the barn, stables and piggeries on a 7 acre farm site just outside Lavenham in Suffolk. The site is totally applicable to the educational and gallery usage of the art, literary and ceramic work of the Soper family, George, father, and his two daughters, Eva and Eileen, who lived near Welwyn in Hertfordshire.
A non-returnable deposit has been paid to Suffolk County Council. The site is being offered off-market because the aims of the Charity are in accordance with the County priority policies of education, support for the Arts, tourism and employment. The balance of the purchase money, £600,000, must be raised by 20th November 2018. This is a big project which needs urgent support. Please see our website: www.thesopercollection.org
The Project has the support of County and District Councillors and local authority officers and many local people.
What we aim to do is to bring the work of this amazingly talented family to public notice in East Anglia to become part of our national Art Heritage and to support other museums and galleries in the East Anglian counties. We will be very pleased to answer any questions.
