Stories are translating into all kinds of creative outputs ready for exhibition and launch events during Libraries Week from the 5th– 12thof October.
We are 5 workshops in and so far, our talented and diverse production team are working towards a My Story Micro Festival showcasing the work created over the last few months.
During Libraries Week, Hertford and South Oxhey Library will play host to the following:
Forgotten Landscapes – a glimpse into the world of submitted stories, a series of paintings, illustrations and quotes – Artist, Emma Philips
Story Scene – large-scale canvas depicting a scene from ‘Bombed Out’ – Artist, Tyler Holderness
Collaged Mini Movies – Translating ‘Bombed Out’ and ‘Jam Jar, Swiss Rolls and Contraceptives,’ projected shorts – Artist, Martin Renshaw
Instrumental – music created in response to a ‘Fairy Tale in New York’ – Artist, Joseph Suddick
Character Pieces – Characters from the stories, large scale colour prints taken from original drawings. – Artist,Harry Goad
A simple life? – poem and reading by Kate Walton
Event Story Telling, Lighting and Sound Scape – Designed by Calum Brooker and Chris Bann
Event Story – Marketing and promotion – Philip Passman and Chris Bann
Communication – A series of letters exchanged between two characters from, ‘A Knock on the Door Changed My Life’. Author Gladys Moore
Collection – Cross cutting themes, anecdotal advice and positive messages taken from all stories and presented by Herts Librarians – Jo, Marion and Shirley.
Love Words and Reading – Extracts from My Story Submissions presented by Herts Library Service
Dream Drawers – It’s good to have a dream – what’s yours? Interactive dream scape installation, incorporating imagery from submitted stories mixed in with quotes and words taken from submissions exploring what it means to be human. Presenting themes of blurred reality, distorted memory imagination and dreams. Featuring, ‘Jay Jream’ a character puppet shining light on the World of imagination with a dream catcher.
‘Jay Jream’ Workshop session – event visitors are invited to participate in workshops to create dream catchers to take home or decorate a cloud and share your dreams written on a cloud and posted into the dream drawers. Collected dreams will form a touring dream library collected at various venues across Hertfordshire and beyond….. by Lottie Woodard, Alex, Shirley and Kerry.
