SQUEAK

 

My name is Win, I am 94 years old and lived in Hoddesdon until 1977.

When I was 4 or 5 years old, I attended a small private school, which was held in the room under the Clock Tower in Hoddesdon.

I remember being in a Play put on by the school in which I was cast as a ‘Jack in the Box’. I had to jump up out of my box with a loud SQUEAK and to do this I was given a squeaky rubber ball.

On the night of the performance, right on cue, I jumped up out of my box and cried, “Oh I forgot my squeaker”. The audience erupted into peals of laughter and fortunately, I did not spoil the Play!
