Researching Gorham Ancestry in England

The ancestry of the “Gorham” surname in England began with a Goeffrey De Gorham, from France c 1130, to join St Albans as the Abbot. This family group then spread in Hertfordshire and surrounding counties. My surname is also “Gorham”, born Essex 1937, then migrated to Australia in 1952 as the eldest son, settling in Perth, Western Australia, and raising my own family here.

My research for my own ancestry has gone back to the counties of Southern England, mainly Kent and the Sussexes. I am trying to establish how the two family groups, North and South of the Thames, are joined.

If there is/are any “Gorham” library members there wanting to expand their family knowledge, I would like to email to and fro and share names and dates of our common family surname, also have other family name details gathered over many years and countries and other “Gorhams”.

Kindest regards,
John Gorham, Perth, Western Australia
