Last year view from my back garden of the River Beane

Why fell trees with no thought for birds

By Maureen Mellish

The view of the river has always been wonderful to see. The many birds nesting year after year in them, Magpie for one every year to this same tree. We always put bird food in our garden and the trees on the other side are full of Goldfinch, all the Tits, greenfinch not so much this year, something has happened there. The fish always liked to pool under the trees, we have River Trout in the river. This morning all the trees barring one have been sawn down. Why, so the walkers will be able to see more of the river. Yes some needed to be felled but not all of them.
