The pictures in the gallery above are all of scenery on a waterway, but which one? Or are they all even of the same waterway? Inscriptions on two of the pictures suggest that they may be of the River Chess, in south-west Hertfordshire or Buckinghamshire, but this isn’t clear.
Any suggestions you have that could identify these locations would be very welcome. The pictures appear to date from the late 1940s or early 1950s.
Click on individual pictures to enlarge them. Any inscription on the back of the originals is included in the title.

No 7 looks like Batchworth Mill in the background
I know the location of several of these pictures but they are not numberered so how do I comment? The pic with the Gas Tower is looking over the Chess & Elms Lake Rickmansworth and the picture with what looks like a station in background is the Church Street LNWR Rickmansworth Station now gone. In the forground is the Canal & Sabeys Pool. You can also see the hex bridge still over the Chess Navigation Cut at this point. There are also pics of the Gade at the old Croxley Paper Mill. And more….
Many thanks. It certainly looks from your links as if it could well be that location.
I had thought previously this might be around Rickmansworth. Comments on the other gasometer picture agree with this. This one has the edge of a gasometer and tall church spire. These locations have a gasometer, tall church and the River Chess all in close location : Former Methodist church

In addition, around Rickmansworth there are a number of lakes and watercourses which could be the other photos.
Many thanks for your suggestions on these pictures.
Might be behind Rickmansworth High Street. Just taken down the gasometer. But could very well show part of the Colne going towards Salter’s Cut( i.e. the cut to Salters Brewery (now Salters Close)
Could that be the old Rickmansworth LMS station to the left?
Possibly the rear of the Water company, Batchworth Rickmansworth (now Veolia)
Could that be Croxley Great Barn to the right?
This looks like Hertford walk way which is down by Hartham common
Thanks.
Looks like the River Gade in Cassiobury Park in Watford.
