Ok, so I don’t remember much about the coronation, I was only 5 years old, in short trousers at infant school, but I do know we had coronation mugs given to schoolchildren. My mother had a model of the coronation coach. We don’t know what happened to it but a couple of years ago it was worth quite a bit on ‘ a well known auction site’ . My wife who lived in Edmonton at the time, does know of a street party. She would only have been three, so maybe she was told about it.
The Golden Jubilee had a concert at Buckingham Palace. The two moments I remember from the television were Brian May, from Queen, playing on the roof of the Palace and Charles referring to the Queen as ‘Mummy’. Having said that I don’t really have memories of the jubilee, except the local street in Cheshunt (Hillside Crescent) did have a street party for the Diamond Jubilee.
