Overnight the world
has filled with bird song,
unaccustomed silence
whispering to itself
then suddenly emboldened,
taken by surprise.
Listen. This is the sound
of compensatory freedom,
conversation offered
to be overheard
and marvelled at
until familiar,
an airborne language
greeting you in flight.
