E.M. Forster's childhood home

Rooks Nest and St Nicholas' Church

By Samuel Cooper

Rooks Nest is a house and farm in Stevenage, north of what was Stevenage Village. It appears as early as 1766 on Dury and Andrews large-scale map of Hertfordshire.

St Nicholas’ Church is situated very close to Rooks Nest. On the path besides it, which leads to Forster Country, is the commemorative sculpture “Only Connect” by Angela Godfrey, a dedication to E.M. Forster.
