The Hertfordshire County Council BAME Staff Network and Hertfordshire Archives & Local Studies

Stevenage Caribbean and African Association visiting the archives
hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies

Hertfordshire County Council’s BAME network want to make BAME history, heritage and culture in Hertfordshire more visible.  We would like stories, documents and other materials that cover events such as Windrush, Covid-19, success stories (individual, family, community) and life stories.

We want to capture this information for future researchers, educators and commentators to ensure that our collective history represents all Hertfordshire communities. We will work with Hertfordshire Archives & Local Studies on this and future projects; their expertise will be invaluable in documenting and preserving your treasured information.

How to get Involved

Please share your experiences, reflections and responses about who you are – you can speak to us direct, share videos, photos, newspaper articles, blogs, creative projects, journals and diaries – anything you think tells the story of you and your community through the years.  Please do not include information, the thoughts and personal details of other people without their permission – always ask first.

Your information can be attached to an email.

Please use the form below to give your full name, contact details (email address, phone number) and some contextual information – who created the item, why, and why is it important to you? Where and when was it made or found?  This information is needed so your contributions can be properly recorded.

Please email your submissions to bame@hertfordshire.gov.uk. You can contact us if you have any queries at the BAME email address or Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies hals.enquiries@hertfordshire.gov.uk
