Sergeant Stanley Henry Welch, 1291444, 103 Sqdn., Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.
Henry Welch was the son of Bertie and Dorothy Welch of Stevenage. He died aged just 21 on 26 July 1943 and is buried at the Reichswald Forest War Cemetery, Germany.

Information received. The aircraft that Stanley was flying in crashed at Bordeck, midway between Oberhausen and Essen whilst on a mission to bomb Essen. It is thought to have been shot down by either Uffz. Wolfgang Knobloch or Fw. Horst Heinstein, both of 5./JG Herman, the combat taking place between 4,600 to 7,000 mtrs over Essen about 01.15hrs. The bodies were intially buried at Nordfriedhof, Dusseldorf but after the war ended their remains wer transferred to the Reischwald Forest War Cemetary
