Water pumps

Diane Lynch

It was only in 1937 that a piped water supply came to Flamstead. Before then wells were used and, in 19th century, several public pumps were located around the village. The photographs below show the village pump at the corner of High Street and Chapel Road.

  • Does anyone know what “Billy Buttons Hole” in Hollybush Lane refers to. This was just past the last house at a slight bend in the road heading towards the A5
