A crown for the pillar box
Colin Wilson
The pillar box at Goffs Oak had a Jubilee makeover. In recent years there has been a trend in various parts of the country for locals to decorate postboxes or other fixtures for special days or events. Hence it was no surprise when my wife came home and mentioned a pillar box at Goffs Oak which had been decorated for Queen Elizabeth’s platinum jubilee. It was outside the Co-op close to the junction of Goffs lane, Cuffley Hill and Newgate Street Road.
As can be seen from the photos, it was in the form of a crown atop a purple cushion, with bunting round pillar box top. It had been made by the Goffs Oak Creative Crafters.
It was fun while it lasted, but just a few days later it had been removed.
