Two petitions sent from Hemel Hempstead, Berkhamsted, and the surrounding area.
The first calls for the ‘effectual mitigation’ or gradual abolition of slavery.
This was withdrawn in favour of the second petition, which seeks the ‘early abolition’ of slavery.
