Knebworth Village Festival
June 2010
By Ann Judge
We have been running a Village Festival for the last few years, but this year, it was the best ever. We had a wide range of events, including the always popular Comedy Night, Flower Arranging organised by the Knebworth Twinning Association, a talk from the ex-correspondent and MP Martin Bell, and the preview of the film Love/Loss filmed in and around Knebworth.
A new event organised by Derek Harrison, pulling together some 40 local people into a Community Chorus, was a particular highlight of the Festival. They sang with two professionals – Jayne O’Mahony and John Langley, at St Martins Church, and were watched by over 100 people who gave them a standing ovation at the end of the performance.
The finale at Knebworth House was a reading of best loved poems by Colin Greenslade, with champagne on the terrace in the beautiful sunshine.
