Jane A Connell must be confusing two different people as the Ken Johnson that worked in the Library was the man that Dave Thompson remembers. He was no cyclist and attended St Christopher, not Letchworth Grammar School. He was involved which the Boy Scout movement and may have worn shorts in that role, but I can’t remember him wearing shorts in public.
I certainly remember Kenneth Johnson he was in the cycling club ‘The Nomads’ he may have even founded it, he was a friend of my brother Michael Saunders, I think they went to Letchworth Grammar School together, always strolling around Letchworth in his shorts which was an unusual sight in those days!
I used to go to the library frequently as a boy. One of the !librarians was Ken Johnson who used to write weekly in the Citizen Newspaper. Mostly they were tales and stories about one Aelfric Thmurge. Does anyone else remember this? Ken was a real character, always had the time of day for you.
