Soldiers of WW1

The Territorials leaving Letchworth Station

By Gill Clements

Troops leaving circa 1914

A fascinating picture of local men leaving Letchworth.

Do you recognise anybody here? Perhaps one of your ancestors joined up to go to war.

  • Hi – My father-in law fought in the great war and was from Letchworth. His name was Arthur Douglas PIMM and I think he worked at Spirella

  • Hi Pearl, what was his name? Was he from Letchworth? I probably have some info on him if so. Dan

  • My Grandfather was in WWI. Although I cannot see his face in the photo I am interested in your future book. I’m not sure if I can add anything vis-a-vis my Grandfather and WWI but I would be willing to try if contacted.

  • Hi Gill, Although I can’t name the men by face, I am researching the soldiers of Letchworth who served in the Great War for a book I’m writing and could provide a list of the men who would be in that picture and some info on them if you are interested? Perhaps someone could match a face to a name (I could maybe name a few based on other photos I have). Regards, Dan
