No more Butchers shops
By Brenda Canning and Tina Digweed
Schools that have gone :-
- Little Furze School (infant juniors)
- Clarendon School, Chilwell Gardens (Secondary Modern)
- Hampden School (secondary Modern)
Now there are no Butchers shops
The scout hut is still here and we used to play in the woods
On Saturday a fish man came round in his van with winkles and cockles. There was also a man with a horse and cart selling just eggs. As there were no shops only vans it meant that everyone came out of their houses to shop and chat.
Dad had an allotment which was great for the country spirit and we always played in the street games such as skipping and hopscotch.
