The Bower children took part in the Fancy Dress Parade. The picture shows Lily (left) as ‘Buttons & Bows’.  John was a minstrel, and Shirley represented the end of sweet rationing.  Her dress was comprised of stuck-on sweet wrappers.  Doreen Lawrence is in the background as a ballerina, and the lady in the white dress is Lilian Campbell.
